Collection: Katie Brandt (@sweetgumspot)
Katie is a homesteader and homemaker based in Fort Wayne, IN. Along with her husband and two little girls, Katie gardens, raises meat rabbits, and keeps bees all in the backyard of her quarter acre property in the suburbs. After years of thinking she couldn't homestead until she moved out to the country, Katie decided enough was enough and started creating abundance in her suburban backyard.
Katie’s relationship with food changed drastically once she started growing and sourcing ingredients herself. She realized she could enjoy the food she loved while also cooking healthy, nourishing meals for her family. This inspired her to create Using Honey on the Homestead, a resource for other natural minded mamas looking to ditch refined sugars and cook delicious and nutritious meals with raw honey. WIth over 50 recipes for all meals, snacks, drinks, and more, it’s the perfect partner for making the switch. In addition to clear and concise recipes, it also teaches you how to convert any recipe to honey, so you can truly transform your whole lifestyle!
Katie is passionate about teaching others how to create their dream homestead right where they are through backyard beekeeping and cooking from scratch. She shares new recipes, homesteading tips, and her own homesteading journey on Instagram @SweetgumSpot. Follow her to get the latest updates on new recipes, projects, and adventures!
